GulfStar Group Promotes Charles Craig to Managing Director

HOUSTON, January 4, 2024 – GulfStar Group, a leading middle market investment bank headquartered in Houston, is pleased to announce that Charles Craig has been promoted to managing director.

In his new role, Charlie will be responsible for all aspects of the deal process, including transaction sourcing, structuring, negotiation and execution. He will also continue to lead the firm’s Environmental & Sustainability Practice and serve as an integral part of GulfStar’s business development efforts.

Charlie joined GulfStar in 2016 and was promoted multiple times within the organization, most recently serving as senior vice president. Since joining the firm, he has been involved in the successful closing of more than 30 assignments, including sell-side and buy-side mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, and debt and equity private placements. Over his investment banking career, Charlie has advised a diverse range of energy, environmental services, and industrials clients in strategic and capital markets transactions with aggregate value in excess of $30 billion.

“Since joining the firm eight years ago, Charlie has been instrumental to the growth and success of GulfStar, both from the standpoint of business development and transaction execution and, crucially, the thoughtful development of our junior professional staff,” said Scott Winship, managing director of GulfStar. “Charlie’s promotion to managing director is a well-deserved recognition of his visible dedication to the firm and the significant contribution he has made in developing GulfStar’s Environmental & Sustainability Practice. The partners of GulfStar are excited to see this next generation of leaders make their mark in the dealmaking community and help drive the firm forward into our exciting future.”

Prior to joining GulfStar, Charlie worked as an associate in the Natural Resources Group at Barclays Capital, Inc. While at Barclays Capital, he advised upstream and midstream oil and gas clients through business combinations and provided guidance on capital structure management. Prior to becoming an investment banker, Charlie worked directly in the environmental and sustainability sector at Summit Power Group as a commercial developer and at Standard Renewable Energy (GridPoint) as a business development manager. Charlie earned a B.A.S. in Environmental Studies from The University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
