GulfStar Group Seeks Qualified Investment Banking Analyst Candidates

GulfStar, Houston's premier middle market investment bank, is seeking qualified candidates for immediately available investment banking analyst positions. 

To be considered for a position, a candidate must have the following qualifications/characteristics: 

  • At least one year of experience as an analyst at an established middle market or bulge bracket investment banking firm, or at least one year of experience in the transaction services, management restructuring or audit group of a Big 4 accounting firm or the corporate lending group of a top-tier commercial bank (completion of credit training program required)
  • Demonstrated command of Financial Accounting principals
  • Strong financial modeling and analysis skills
  • Superior research skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics – CPA and/or Series 63 & 79 FINRA licenses will be given preference
  • Demonstrated command of Excel and PowerPoint – working knowledge of Capital IQ and FactSet will be given preference
  • Very high level of motivation, commitment and dedication
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Desire to excel in a demanding and dynamic work environment
  • Two-year (minimum) commitment
  • Houston resident, or ability to freely relocate immediately 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participating as an integral member of deal execution teams and providing company and industry research, analytical support and process management, from pitch to closing
  • Three statement financial modeling
  • Valuation analysis
  • Comparable company and transaction research and analyses
  • Providing transaction process support on M&A, Private Placement, and Financial Advisory projects
  • Assisting in the drafting and preparation of marketing materials including pitch books, confidential information memoranda, corporate and industry profiles and industry/market analyses
  • Researching and identifying targeted buyers
  • In-depth company and industry research including the drafting of industry newsletters
  • Travel for client engagements will be required

  • Compensation consists of market competitive base salary, a substantial year-end bonus and health care and 401(k) benefits
  • Outstanding performers will be strongly considered for promotion to associate after a two-year commitment
